Der Tagesspiegel
With daily sales of almost 140,000 copies, Der Tagesspiegel is the newspaper for executives and business people in Berlin and the surrounding region. Holtzbrinck publishing group now has a 99 percent holding in the publication which was first founded in 1945.
"Rerum cognoscere causas": day after day, the newspaper's award-winning journalists set out in search of "the reasons why things happen". The paper's Latin motto emphasizes its independent, liberal position. Some 350,000 readers in Berlin and Brandenburg alone appreciate this professional ethic. With its noticeably young, well-educated, professionally well-positioned – and hence affluent – readership, Der Tagesspiegel is optimally placed in the decision-maker segment. Since the refounding of the Berlin stock exchange, Der Tagesspiegel has become essential reading as well as the primary channel for the Berlin commercial register. The editors work closely with the leading business newspapers Handelsblatt and Wall Street Journal. The Tagesspiegel group also includes the Potsdamer Neueste Nachrichten daily with a circulation of some 10,000 copies, and the Zitty city magazine published every two weeks, with a circulation of approximately 55,000.
