From its beginnings as the Neuwieder Hefte fuer Werbung und Verkauf im Lebensmitteleinzelhandel (Neuwied Notebooks for Advertising and Sales in Food Retail), founded in 1949, LEBENSMITTEL PRAXIS has become one of the leading food magazines for the retail and branded article industry.

Today, LPV publishes a range of journals at various locations in Germany and abroad. The publications produced in Neuwied include the flagship publication LEBENSMITTEL PRAXIS as well as the magazines CONVENIENCE SHOP, KUECHE (put out by the German Chef Association), and Catering inside. In Vienna, LPV publishes REGAL, the journal for branded articles and retail, for the Austrian market. In Warsaw, LPV is the majority shareholder in the journals Wiadomosci Handlowe and Wiadomosci Kosmetyczne, which are leaders in their respective segments. In Landsberg/Lech, Germany, LPV puts out Top hotel, the leading German journal for the hospitality industry. Since October 2007, the publisher has also been responsible for handelsjournal (put out by the Main Association of German Retail Trade) and BBE Verlag.

The publisher sees itself as a communication service provider in its various market segments, initiating a wide range of events, awards, services and market research projects. The focal point of its publication activities is the production of effective specialist media, all of which play an outstanding role in their respective industry segment.
