The Holtzbrinck Digital Incubation segment seeds promising new start-ups and builds them into durably successful companies over a period of several years. The portfolio includes companies from the former Holtzbrinck eLAB incubator, deals seed-funded by Holtzbrinck Ventures and spin-offs from larger internet companies in the publishing group.
One important criterion when founding or selecting start-ups is their thematic link to Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group’s existing focus areas of education, information, entertainment and science. The potential for knowledge transfer and the reciprocal use of (media) services within the Holtzbrinck Digital portfolio also plays a role. The most important aspect, however, is that the new ventures contain innovative business ideas with a realistic chance of success, that they are run by outstanding founders and that they can be driven forward successfully by means of the know-how and the financial support of Holtzbrinck Digital.
